Read the following vignette and respond to the questions that follow:

On the first Saturday of each month, the Friends Community Church of Omaha hosts an all-church potluck in the gymnasium. Before each potluck, Pastor Oswald encourages church members to invite their friends and family members as an outreach to the community. However, very few guests typically attend the event. Pastor Oswald is not sure why some individuals invite their friends and family, whereas others do not. He has asked for your help in solving this problem in ministry.

Respond to the following questions:

1. Why do you think some individuals invite their friends and family members whereas others do not? What is your theory?
2. Would you address this problem using a descriptive/correlational study or an experiment? Justify your approach.
3. Briefly describe a simple research design the pastor could use to address this problem.
