supplies for the virtual sessions

Girls on the Run has made the choice to go completely virtual this fall. Below is a letter the executive director sent to its coaches and partner schools earlier this week. This will require the organization to have clear marketing pieces and communication to its various audiences during these next few months.

Girls on the Run Memphis’s ultimate need: How do we communicate the value of the virtual program, make this enticing and cool to tweens and comfortable for coaches?

Dear Coaches and School Partners,

The health and well-being of our participants, coaches and volunteers is at the forefront of every decision we make. As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the Mid-South, we at Girls on the Run Memphis have decided to offer the Fall 2020 program in a virtual format.

While we wish we could be together physically, we know this is the best option for our GOTR community. And thanks to Girls on the Run International, we will still be able to offer our participants an engaging and meaningful social and emotional development program from the safety of their homes.

Key Facts:
• The program will consist of 8 weeks/16 lessons of our fully researched Girls on the Run and Heart and Sole curriculum;
• Lessons will have two components: a 45-minute live virtual session and 25 minutes of independent activities;
• Lessons will be led by trained GOTR coaches;
• All girls will receive her own journal that will be utilized as part of the curriculum;
• All girls will receive a GOTR cinch sack, with necessary supplies for the virtual sessions and independent activities;
• The program will be offered at a discounted rate to participants;
• Financial assistance will still be available for all families;
• A virtual 5K celebration will be held at the end of the program (date TBD);
• Program start date in mid-to-late September (date TBD).

While we recognize Fall 2020 will be different, we are excited to start a new season. We invite you to join us for our Virtual Open House on August 11 from 12-1 p.m., where you will learn more specific details about the delivery of our program.
Together, with your support, our girls will be Virtually Unstoppable!
