Working on sustainability reporting for an assignment we came across the announcement made by Kuwait stock exchange (Boursa) (boursa Kuwait) that as of October 2022 “Yahoo Finance” platform and “Apple Stocks” app will carry the information of Kuwaiti listed companies. The objective of sharing such information as per the statement of Boursa is to “to offer regional and global investors access to stock prices and associated data, and to Boursa Kuwait indices, which could all be added to the users watch list.” Recent trends indicate the importance of sustainability information to wide range of investors. We want you to investigate the availability of such information and the practices in place and if they meet the international standards for reporting, disclosure, assurance, diffusion and transparency.
You will survey the listed companies for the sustainability reports made available through these websites and apps. And perform a content analysis for the information contained in the available sustainability reports. Furthermore, you will assess the diffusion of the available information through the different media (Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, etc.)
The questions you have to answer relate to three axes:
1. The measurement and standards used for reporting sustainability related activities
2. The determinants/drivers for the disclosure as observed in the Kuwaiti stock market
3. The measures taken for ensuring the quality and diffusion of sustainability information
This assignment involves data collection from websites. The collected information need to be presented using Excel (xls; csv). The assignment itself must be written using Times New Roman font size 12 double spaced.
