Your paper will carefully examine one film of your choosing. What exactly about the film you will
analyze is up to you, but it must relate to course content. For example, maybe you will analyze lighting
techniques in Moonlight and how lighting is used to move along characterization. Perhaps you will study
sound in the movie Once Upon A Time in the West to prove how sound adds dramatic tension to a film. The
possibilities are endless. I am somewhat flexible on your topic idea. For example, if you have a burning
desire– and good reason– to analyze two films instead of one, I will consider.
