we will be watching Dr. Jonathan Haidt’s talk and the related assignment out of class. Watch Jonathan Haidt’s talk (opens in new window) on the primary elements that define where we fall along the conservative/liberal spectrum. Then arrange to have a 15-30 minute discussion with someone outside of our class to discuss Haidt’s ideas, preferably someone who has very different political/philosophical perspectives than your own. Together, arrange a short list of strategies that would help to strengthen the quality of conversations between people of significantly different philosophical and political leanings.
