Writing a play

What text will you be working with? Why?
What genre will you be working with? (Standard Academic, Casual Academic, Reader Response,
Research)Why?
What (in general) is your overall argument/thesis?
What examples do you plan to use to support that thesis?
Standard Academic: This is really the typical school essay. Not only should it be formatted and set up properly,
but grammar, punctuation, and proper writing, in general, are very important. Further, it should contain the
required elements of formal writing. These include an introduction (with a clear thesis), body paragraphs that
support that thesis with evidence from the text, and a conclusion. The tone should be formal, professional, and
academic. In many ways, these are the essays most of us have been taught to write, and they can be very
useful.
