Classrooms today present a variety of learning needs. Students may need support in language acquisition, academic or intellectual ability, physical manipulation of materials, or social and emotional interaction. Every day, teachers are challenged to plan to meet the needs of all students while covering course content.
Reread “Box 5.1 RTI for Struggling Adolescent Learners: Planning, Implementing, and Differentiating Strategies to Meet the Needs of All Learners.” While reading, consider how strategies could be differentiated in your chosen content area. Then answer the following question.
• Consider a strategy mentioned in Chapter 5 that lends itself well to your chosen content area. What challenges might students face when using this strategy in particular? What modifications and accommodations would you make to support learners?
