The following assignment is a case study to broaden your experience with general construction methods, quantity takeoffs, project bidding procedures, and overall problem solving. You are to approach the project from the standpoint of a
bidding party (i.e. prime contractor) and consider the practical implications of time, cost, and achievement of project

  1. Drawings
  2. Supplemental information to be provided as requested by the Contractor (you) in the form of a written RFI.
    The deadline for RFI’s is 11/25/20 at 5:00pm EST. RFI’s must be submitted on the provided RFI form (AIA
    G716).
  3. Photos of the “existing structure” and actual work progress. These are being provided as a courtesy to give
    you a visual idea of the project.
    Your scope of work will be as described on the Title Page of the Drawings. Keep in mind that there is an existing
    structure on the site that will be renovated. The garage is eliminated from the scope of work.
    You are required to prepare the following items:
  4. Bid Forms (30 points)
    a. You are to create a bid form template that is effective in conveying the following information:
    i. Summary of proposed work and your strategy (1 page maximum)
    ii. Total price for the scope of work described above.
  5. Cost Spreadsheet (30 points)
    a. You have the flexibility to create the spreadsheet however you like, but generally, it should look very
    similar to the reference Excel files uploaded to Canvas. An example screenshot is provided below:
  6. Supporting Calculations (30 points)
    a. It will not be possible to complete the assignment without performing basic math calculations. Prepare
    these in a legible format (handwritten is fine as long as it is readable).
    The remaining 10 points shall be based on the overall quality and professionalism of the submission.
